LMEX Trading Fees Explained: Spot, Futures, and How to Reduce Them

LMEX spot fees start at 0.1% and futures at 0.01% maker. Learn how fee tiers work, how holding LMEX tokens reduces your rates, and what discounts are available.

Fee structures are one of the first things experienced traders evaluate when choosing an exchange. On LMEX, the schedule is transparent: fees start low, there are five tiers above General, and advancement happens either through trading volume or by holding LMEX tokens. This guide breaks down exactly what you pay at each level and how to reduce it.

Spot Trading Fees

Spot trading fees are charged as a percentage of the trade value and deducted from the currency you receive.

VIP Level LMEX Token Holding OR 30-Day Volume Maker Taker Maker (Referral -20%) Taker (Referral -20%)
General < 5,000 0.100% 0.100% 0.080% 0.080%
VIP 1 ≥ 5,000 $100,000 0.080% 0.090% 0.064% 0.072%
VIP 2 ≥ 15,000 $500,000 0.060% 0.080% 0.048% 0.064%
VIP 3 ≥ 25,000 $10,000,000 0.050% 0.070% 0.040% 0.056%
VIP 4 ≥ 40,000 $50,000,000 0.040% 0.060% 0.032% 0.048%
VIP 5 ≥ 50,000 $100,000,000 0.020% 0.060% 0.016% 0.048%

Your fee tier is determined by your LMEX token holdings and recalculated every hour. Volume thresholds offer an alternative route for high-frequency traders who prefer not to hold the platform token. Your current tier is visible on the Account Dashboard.

Futures Trading Fees

Futures fees are charged at both position entry and close, deducted from your margin balance.

VIP Level LMEX Token Holding OR 30-Day Volume Maker Taker Maker (Referral -20%) Taker (Referral -20%)

VIP 5 ≥ 50,000 $500,000,000 0.000% 0.040% 0.000% 0.032%

At VIP 5, futures maker fees fall to 0.000% — effectively free entry for market-making strategies operating at scale.

The Maker-Taker Distinction

The maker-taker model rewards traders who add liquidity. A maker order rests on the order book — a limit order placed away from the current market price. A taker order matches immediately against an existing order, removing liquidity.

On spot, both start at 0.100%. The gap between maker and taker widens as you move up the futures tiers — at VIP 3, the maker rate is 0.004% versus the taker’s 0.045%, a meaningful difference for active traders placing large volumes.

Funding Fees on Perpetual Contracts

Beyond trading fees, perpetual futures carry a funding fee — a periodic payment exchanged between long and short holders every 8 hours. Funding is only charged if you hold a position at the funding interval. The formula:

Funding Fee = Notional Value × Funding Rate

When the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts. When negative, shorts pay longs. This mechanism keeps the perpetual price anchored to the underlying spot market over time. Funding rates are displayed live on the trading interface for each contract.

Three Practical Ways to Reduce Your Fees

Hold LMEX tokens. Your tier is based entirely on token holdings, recalculated hourly. For most retail traders, accumulating LMEX tokens is the most direct path to lower fees, since the volume thresholds for higher tiers are set for institutional-scale participants.

Register through a referral link. New accounts gain a 20% discount on all fees for the first 30 days. Self-referral across multiple accounts is not permitted.

Place maker orders where possible. Limit orders resting away from the current price attract the maker rate, which is lower than the taker rate at every tier. The fee savings compound meaningfully over sustained high-volume trading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are fees deducted from my base or quote currency on spot trades? Fees are deducted from the currency you receive. If you buy BTC with USDT, the fee comes out of the BTC you receive.

When are futures fees charged? At position entry and position close. Liquidation, auto-deleveraging (ADL), and final settlement events also incur fees at the applicable taker rate.

How often is my fee tier recalculated? Token-based tiers are recalculated every hour. Volume-based qualification uses a rolling 30-day window.

Can I see my current fee level? Yes — it is displayed on the Account Dashboard.

Does the referral discount stack with VIP tier discounts? The 20% referral discount applies for the first 30 days. After that, your fee level is determined by whichever of your qualifications — token holdings or volume — earns you the lower rate.
